If you are trying to get the new dog in your life to understand the basic commands, then you would be best served to enroll them in dog obedience training classes. This is where your dog will go through various aspects of training, and the class will be designed to teach them simple life lessons. Most of the lessons will include some of the primary commands, such as: stay, sit, and proper leash walking. Each and every command that you are going to have your dog learn, will be the foundation of the pet/owner relationship. A Puppy Needs LimitsDog obedience training is designed to teach a young dog that there are limits, and this is meant to help the dog merge into a family environment without issue. Very much like children, you need to have a structured setting for a puppy. If the dog has no boundaries, then they do not know the difference between wrong and right. The dog will be more apt to behave in a fashion that you feel is inappropriate. This behavior however, is anything but bad according to the dog, and it is something that they would seem completely natural. You need to show a dog that there are rules, and these rules are there in place for a reason. When this dog realizes that these rules are set in stone, they will not test the theory. With proper training, the dog will be more comfortable in the idea that their place in the pack mentality is not at the top. Various Stages There are various stages of dog obedience training that you can look into for your dog, and depending on the dog’s age you will see different types of classes to correspond. For the puppies, most of the training is done in short bursts. This allows the puppies some play time and social time to shake the bugs out. This will keep the puppies focused, and they will be less likely to fiddle around and get restless. When the dog is older, you can find that the classes are more structured and have fewer breaks to them. This is because the older dog does not need as many breaks in the class to be focused. This training for the older dogs will not be quite like the puppy training in that the older dog should already know the basic commands. This training will be for more specific and detailed commands, and this is something that the puppy is not prepared to take on at this time. Necessary Development Dog obedience training is something that many professional dog handlers feel is very necessary for the development of the animal. This animal is going to go into your home with your family, and it is going to need to behave itself. This cannot be expected from the dog naturally, unless the dog has been formed into an animal that understands the rules. This will give the dog confidence, and there will be less issue between a dog and its owner. You can read more Dog Training and Obedience related articles: Here
