Home Dog Training
Home Dog Training Tips
If you have been considering dog training for your dog yet do not want to shell out the money
for a trainer, then you may want to try home dog training instead. This is something that you can accomplish, if
you set your mind to the task and stay focused.
A dog can be tricky if you are not prepared for what it takes to actually train them. If you
feel that this is something that you can manage, then you will want to be ready to do so. Does some homework before
you begin, and this will allow you to be ready to tackle this fun endeavor.
Aids And Devices
If you are going to consider home dog training, then you need to
understand that you are more than likely going to need some aids and devices to help you along. Items such as
collars and leashes of various lengths are very important to the training sessions. Couple these with whistles and
or bells and clickers, and you can be ready to start obtaining the dog’s attention.
You can get the dog to do what you want when you work at offering reward for command followed,
and this is something that is pretty much the most effective method known today. This is because dogs are very food
driven, and if they feel they will gain from something they will be more opt to do it. Have a good supply of treats
and or dog kibble bits available so that you can give the dog a treat when they do as asked.
Half A Plate
You need to be sure that you do not take on a full plate of training when it comes to home dog
training, because this is something that could actually become troublesome. If you deal with half a plate at a
time, you will not have to worry about stress. Doing too much for the training will stop you from focusing on the
important aspects of the sessions.
This is something that is even more important if the dog that you are training is a young dog or
a puppy. This is because they have a hard time focusing on anything for more than a few minutes. Start small and
work your way to a busier schedule, and this will help you become a better dog trainer.
Getting The Job Done
One of the most important aspects of home dog training is actually getting the job done. While
it is easily understandable that having a dog seems to be a full time training session, the fact is if the dog is
well trained to begin with it makes life later a lot easier.
Your dog will pick things up here and there all through their lives, it is how they were trained
to begin with that will determine whether or not the things they pick up will become bad habits or not. Quality
training is something that will carry them through life, and if you are good enough at it you will have little to
no issues with your dog.
