Puppy Training
Setting The Tone Early for Puppy Training
Once you have bought that adorable new puppy of your dreams, it is
then time to take on the task of puppy training to ensure that the dog remains adorable!
Puppies are a great deal of work, and if you are not prepared to
invest your time into them you are both going to regret it.
A puppy is a baby, and babies need structure in order to grow.
Setting the tone for a puppy is what you need to accomplish, and this is done with proper training. Now is the time
that you get them into class, so you can enjoy everything that they have to offer.
Housebreaking
It is critical in your puppy
training that you instill housebreaking first and foremost. This will ensure that they are not using your home
as a toilet, and that they are actually going outside where they belong. It can be extremely tricky at times to
train a new puppy on where they need to be using the toilet; this is when you are going to need to exhibit the most
patience and attention to training.
There are many training aids on the market that are designed to
help the puppy meet the mark. With scents and puppy training pads being a big thing these days, these delightful
little additions to the family are actually standing a much better chance at success. The puppy pads that are
available today have pheromones in them, and this is designed to lure the puppy to the pads. This pheromone is
scented with fresh cut grass, so this will give the puppy the idea that they are outside.
Socialization
Puppy training is key to proper socialization, and this will prove
to be one of the most important aspects of a dog’s life with you. This means that your puppy should be able to go
to virtually any location, and be able to socialize with other dogs and even other people. This will allow the dog
to feel a sense of security, and they will not be a threat to attack other dogs or become a menace to
people.
Socialization is usually taught at a very young age, usually
during the 8-12 week period of their lives. This is the best time to start them, as everything is fun and
adventurous for the puppy. You will be happy to see that the dog will receive this type of training
well.
Leash
Control
The best time to introduce the leash and control on it is during
puppy training. Puppies are very receptive to new things, and they can actually be less stubborn than an older dog.
The leash is not as much a threat to a puppy as it is to a dog that is not familiar with restraint.
Some dogs just do not deal well with leads, and this attitude
could have been avoided if you had introduced the leash during early month training for the puppy. Leashes must be
worn in public these days, training the puppy to accept this fact is nothing more than one of the many routines
that you will both go through.
